I’m a graphic designer!
A bit of an all-rounder.
I love learning new skills, particularly
ones that help me be a better designer.
A bit about me
My name is Jack Spivey. I'm a northern lad, living in the seaside town of Redcar. It's got a lovely beach.
You can often find me at gigs, particularly those that have sold about 10 tickets with bands you've never heard of. I take an annual trip to Bristol's ArcTanGent festival to watch those same type of bands with 7,000 other music nerds.

I'm always expanding my design offering. Motion is my current area of focus right now.

Me as a designer
I like to design with meaning.
I'm not in the business of chasing big brands. Elevating smaller brands that contribute positively to the community is my jam.
Software
Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign, I know them very well. We've been in a love hate relationship for about 18 years, when I first opened Photoshop CS3 in school.
Affinity, Rive, Blender, Framer and Procreate are my newer friends. As well as being powerful tools in their own right, they're also a bit more respectful to a designers bank account than Adobe is.
Genre of Designer
I'm predominantly a digital designer and some say I specialise in motion. I don't often communicate a specialism though because I like to explore and work in many areas of design. I do love the analogue mediums too and dabble in them occasionally, if they had an undo button i'd probably use them more.
What gets me up in the morning
When I get to work with local projects, events and creatives to develop their brand. Establishing meaningful relationships, helping them expand or evolve their story. Less commercial and more purpose driven work. I'm not a salesperson, I'm a creative and I want to tell peoples stories.
How long have I been doing this?
Depends on your definition. Professionally 5 years. I have been on this journey about 18 years though. Since I discovered the band Gorillaz and opened Photoshop for the first time. In those early days I spent my breaks at lunch in the IT room at school, making funny animations and album covers for my favourite bands.
