Sound was an event founded to combat the hiking ticket prices and recycled band line ups.
Founded and hosted by event promoters and venue managers Aaron Lythe and Toby Pearce (and yours truly).
Our idea was formed with the local community in mind. We were sick of seeing crazy ticket prices for shows that were either cover bands or recycled line ups. We wanted to play host to bands from far and wide all while keeping tickets prices at £5 and being considerate of curfews so people could get public transport back home after the gig.
The gigs started and ended earlier and tickets remained £5 always. We ran Sound: After Dark too for anyone who wanted to stay back and socialise, network or just enjoy a few drinks after the show. We saw huge interest from bands, managers, agents and labels. Some even adopting our ethos in their touring plans. The event was more about influencing change than running it as a successful business. We didn't make much money from it but had a great time and personally I'm very proud of what we managed to achieve. It even connected creatives who went on to develop their own events.
